Insulation Below Grade
What Is Insulation Below Grade
This below grade insulation system combines an above grade finish system and a sprayed-on insulation that will provide many years of trouble-free service under the wide range of conditions such as temperature changes, movement, and thermal shock.
Insulation Below Grade Benefits
This sprayed urethane system contains no urea formaldehyde and supplies one of the highest R values per inch available of any product.
How Does Insulation Below Grade Work
First the polyurethane foam is sprayed directly on the foundation. The foam when sprayed on, provides a mechanical bond as well as a chemical bond to the foundation surface. Since this system can be applied year round, the use of mechanical fasteners or adhesives, that work in warm weather, is eliminated.
Further, as the polyurethane insulation is sprayed on, the final product is continuous with no seams or joints. The elimination of joints and seams found in other insulation methods also eliminates the occurrence of air infiltration and dramatically reducing heat loss.
Additionally, the foam can fill any voids and cracks in the foundation and can be sprayed in such a way that a natural drainage system is formed. This drainage system, or fillet, is formed near the base of the concrete by spraying a thicker lift of foam that slopes away from the foundation and directs water to the drainage tile.
An Efficient and Economical System
The result is a seamless coating and providing protection for the concrete foundation. This system is one of the most efficient and economical systems available.
